( The first thing she was aware of when she rose, sputtering and choking, was laughter. Draco Malfoy was laughing. The outrage that had been waiting to burst out of her died at the sound, and Hermione realized with surprise that this was the first time she'd heard the blond laugh without any hint of maliciousness in his tone. )
