31_days March 6th prompt: "You are everything I--." The fourth point was the one inspired by the theme, and the other parts just wrote themselves. :)
1.
The first time he sees Touya laugh, it's like something opened up inside him. They're sitting under the large tree in the courtyard of the school, eating lunch together as they'd done for the past two weeks. Yukito says something completely absurd without meaning to, and before he even finishes his comment, Touya starts chuckling uncontrollably, and Yukito finds himself mesmerized. He knows then that as long as he lives, he'll never forget that rumbling laughter.
You're beautiful when you smile.
2.
He'd never realized that having a best friend could be like this. He's had friends before, of course, but with Touya, it's like his life's suddenly that much more. It's being teased about the sheer amount of food he can eat during lunch and stealing sweets off Touya's plate when he's invited over for dinner. It's going to school each morning with Yukito perched on the back of the bike, arms wrapped around steady shoulders to keep from falling off. It's knowing Touya's every expression better than he knows his own – that silent understanding that warms him in a way jackets and gloves never could.
I've never met anyone like you before.
3.
Waking up disoriented and still tired at some location he doesn't recall going to, finding himself in awkward situations where it feels like everyone but him knows exactly what's going on. Plastering on forced smiles that he knows Touya can see through from a mile away, but Yukito can't bear to let his defences down, because he knows that as soon as he lets himself go, he's going to unravel like a ribbon that's falling apart until there's nothing left.
Instead, he avoids Touya's gaze, wishing he could explain himself and yet knowing that he can't.
Sometimes, it doesn't feel like I'm real anymore.
4.
Upon first discovering Yue, Yukito is numb. All his life, his history before moving to Tomoeda has been a little blurry, as if bits and pieces are missing, but never had he imagined that everyone he thought he'd known and every memory he'd ever held dear had been nothing but a lie.
As his world comes crashing down, there's only one person he can still be certain of. And it's Touya. Touya, with his blunt honesty and magnetic intensity and frustrating stubbornness.
You are everything I have ever known.
5.
With Touya being such a light sleeper, it's unusual that Yukito wakes first, and he takes the rare opportunity to look at the still-slumbering dark-haired boy. The rays of sunlight that escape from under the closed curtains fall across the tanned skin, only emphasizing those handsome features that's become as familiar as his own. Touya shifts, as if somehow sensing his gaze, but doesn't wake.
Yukito smiles involuntarily.
I love you, you know that?

and damn, 4 is awesome!!! this is the first fic that's believable for yuki's reaction to yue. (-_- read too damn many where he becomes all manic/depressive on touya's ass.)

This was like, their relationship in a nutshell.
Sort of bittersweet, and sounds like it should be sad, but it just isn't, and it's light and laughter and love and you perfectly showed that.

I just love how you went into Yukito's perspective so well, I really imagine him thinking all these and viewing his relationship with Touya the way you wrote it to be so. It just seems so canon and the way you write is beautiful too that I think this could pass as something official. ♥
